Removal

NOTE:
NOTE:Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).

  1. Remove the following items:
    1. Battery
      Refer to: Battery (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, Removal and Installation).

  1. Torque: 10 Nm

  1. Torque: 15 Nm

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Gearshift cables must not be kinked or bent.

  1. Torque: 48 Nm
  1. Remove the following items:
    1. Starter motor
    1. Subframe
      Refer to: Front Subframe (502-00 Uni-Body, Subframe and Mounting System, Removal and Installation).
    1. Drive shafts
      Refer to: Front Halfshaft LH (205-04 Front Drive Halfshafts, Removal and Installation).
      Refer to: Front Halfshaft RH (205-04 Front Drive Halfshafts, Removal and Installation).

  1. Torque: 10 Nm

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:The use of tools or excessive force will damage the quick release couplings.

  1. Torque: 36 Nm

  1. Install the Special Tool(s): 303-290B, 303-290-13, 303-290A-15, 303-290B-16

  1.  
    1. Torque: 25 Nm
    1. Torque: 80 Nm

  1. Discard the bolt.
    Torque: 133 Nm

  1. Torque: 80 Nm

  1. Torque: 48 Nm

  1. Torque: 48 Nm

  1. Support the transmission with a wooden block and secure it to the transmission jack using a retaining strap.
    General Equipment: Transmission jack
  1. Support the transmission using the transmission jack and remove.

Installation

  1. Install all components in reverse order.
  1. Adjust the selector cable.
    Refer to: Selector Lever Cable Adjustment (307-05 Automatic Transmission/Transaxle External Controls - Vehicles With: 6-Speed Automatic Transmission (AWF21), General Procedures).
  1. Check the transmission fluid fill level.
    Refer to: Transmission Fluid Drain and Refill (307-01 Automatic Transmission/Transaxle - Vehicles With: 6-Speed Automatic Transmission (AWF21), General Procedures).
  1. Initialize the window regulator motors.
    Refer to: Door Window Motor Initialization (501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms, General Procedures).
