Removal and Installation

Removal

All vehicles
WARNING:

NOTE:
NOTE:Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

  1. Torque: 10 Nm
Vehicles with 2.5L engine

All vehicles

  1. Carefully pull down the exhaust pipe center heat shield, to remove the fuel tank heat shield.
    Torque: 5 Nm

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Note the orientation of the clamp to aid installation.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure that a new clamp is installed.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure that the clamp is installed to the same orientation as when removed.
    General Equipment: Hose clamp(s)

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure that a new component is installed.
    General Equipment: Hose clamp remover/installer

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

    1. Only vehicles with fuel fired booster heater.
All except vehicles with diesel engine

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Be prepared to collect escaping fluid.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Use suitable packing material to prevent damage to the component.
    CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Make sure that no strain is placed on the fuel lines and wiring harnesses.
    General Equipment: Transmission jack
    General Equipment: Wooden Block

  1. Torque: 24 Nm

  1. General Equipment: Securing Strap

Vehicles with fuel fired booster heater

    Torque: 85 Nm

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Take extra care not to damage the fuel tank level sensor float and arm.
  1. Drain the fuel tank with the fuel tank draining equipment.
    General Equipment: Fuel tank draining equipment

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Take extra care not to damage the fuel tank level sensor float and arm.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure that the seal is correctly located.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Make sure that the installation marks are aligned.
Vehicles with diesel engine
