Mustang Cobra V8-281 4.6L DOHC VIN V MFI (1997)
INSTALLATION
1. Install replacement/rebuilt front disc brake caliper over front disc brake rotor and onto front disc brake caliper anchor plate. Make sure that
guiding surfaces on the brake shoe and lining and front disc brake caliper anchor plate are seated correctly.
2. Install disc brake caliper locating pin and clip by pressing front disc brake caliper down to compress bias springs and disc brake caliper locating
pin into position and securing with washer and clip.
3. Install brake hose fitting with new copper washers on either side to front disc brake caliper and tighten to 40 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).
4. Bleed serviced component. Refer to Hydraulic System. Always replace rubber bleeder screw cap after bleeding.
CAUTION: Failure to tighten lug nuts in a star pattern may result in high rotor runout, which will speed up the development of brake roughness,
shudder and vibration.
5. Install wheel and tire assembly using Rotunda Accutorq Lug Nut Sockets or equivalent on 1/2 inch drive air impact wrench. A torque wrench may
be used. Tighten lug nuts to 115-142 Nm (85-104 ft. lbs.).
6. Lower vehicle and road test.
Rear
REMOVAL
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove rear wheel brake hose from rear disc brake caliper and plug.
4. Remove retaining clip from parking brake rear cable and conduit at rear disc brake caliper.
5. Release tension from parking brake rear cable and conduit and disengage parking brake rear cable and conduit end from parking brake lever.
