Brake Pedal And Bracket (Part 2 Of 2)
WARNING: BRAKE FLUID CONTAINS POLYGLYCOL ETHERS AND POLYGLYCOLS. AVOID CONTACT WITH EYES. WASH
HANDS THOROUGHLY AFTER HANDLING. IF BRAKE FLUID CONTACTS EYES, FLUSH EYES WITH RUNNING WATER FOR 15
MINUTES. GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IF IRRITATION PERSISTS. IF TAKEN INTERNALLY, DRINK WATER AND INDUCE
VOMITING. GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY.
CAUTION: Brake fluid is harmful to painted and plastic surfaces. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted or plastic surface, immediately wash it with
water.
REMOVAL
1. Remove the brake tubes from the primary and secondary outlet ports of the brake master cylinder or brake pressure control valve.
2. Manual transmission only - remove clutch cable bracket retaining bolt that retains clutch release lever cable to bracket on brake master cylinder.
3. Remove L-bracket retaining power steering tubes to bracket on brake master cylinder.
4. Remove two nuts retaining brake master cylinder to the power brake booster assembly.
5. Disconnect brake fluid level indicator electrical connector.
6. Slide brake master cylinder forward and upward from vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Position the brake master cylinder as an assembly over booster push rod and onto two studs on the power brake booster assembly.
2. Install the retaining nuts and tighten to 21-29 Nm (16-21 ft. lbs.).
3. Install the front and rear brake tubes to the brake master cylinder and brake pressure control valve outlet ports.
4. Manual transmission only - Install clutch cable bracket retaining bolt.
5. Install L-bracket retaining power steering tubes to bracket on brake master cylinder.
6. Connect brake fluid level indicator electrical connector.
7. Fill the brake master cylinder with high performance DOT-3 motor vehicle brake fluid. Fill to MAX line on side of brake master cylinder
reservoir.
8. Bleed brake master cylinder at bleed screws located on top of master cylinder.
9. Bleed brake master cylinder at outlet ports.
10. Operate the brakes several times; then check for external hydraulic leaks.
