Mustang Cobra V8-281 4.6L DOHC VIN V MFI (1997)
16. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring (12A581) from low oil level sensor (6C624).
17. Remove oil bypass filter (6714).
18. Remove 16 oil pan retaining bolts.
19. Remove oil pan (6675) and oil pan gasket (6710).
20. If required remove two bolts from the oil pump screen cover and tube (6622) to the oil pump (6600) and remove the bolt retaining oil pump cover
and tube support brace to main bearing stud spacer.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean oil pan and inspect for damage.
2. Clean sealing surfaces of engine front cover (6019) and cylinder block (6010) with a clean cloth. If scraping is required, only use plastic-tipped
scrapers to prevent damage to the aluminum sealing surfaces.
3. Inspect oil pump screen cover and tube and replace if necessary.
NOTE: Replace oil pump inlet tube gasket (6626) if damaged.
4. If removed, position oil pump screen cover and tube on oil pump and hand-start bolts.
5. Install bolt retaining oil pump screen cover and tube to main bearing cap stud spacer finger-tight.
6. Tighten oil pump screen cover tube to oil pump bolts to 8-12 Nm (71-106 inch lbs.). Tighten oil pump screen cover and tube to main bearing cap
stud spacer bolt to 20-30 Nm (15-22 ft. lbs.).
7. Position new oil pan gasket on oil pan.
8. Apply Silicone Gasket and Sealant F6AZ-19562-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSE-M4G323-A6 where engine front cover meets
