Mustang Cobra V8-281 4.6L DOHC VIN V MFI (1997)
3. Install and tighten upper intake manifold retaining bolts in sequence shown to 8-12 Nm (71-106 inch lbs.).
4. Install EGR valve. Refer to Powertrain Management.
5. If removed, install retaining bolts into accelerator cable bracket and upper intake manifold. Tighten retaining bolts to 8-12 Nm (71-106 inch lbs.).
6. If removed, install throttle body to the upper intake manifold.
7. Connect crankcase vent connector and hose and idle air control valve inlet tube to upper intake manifold connections.
8. Install positive crankcase ventilation valve into crankcase ventilation grommet (6A892) on LH valve cover.
9. Connect main emission vacuum control connector to fuel pressure regulator, upper intake manifold connector, EGR valve and EGR vacuum
regulator solenoid.
10. Connect main emission vacuum control connector to intake manifold vacuum connection.
11. Connect speed control actuator cable and accelerator cable to throttle body and accelerator cable bracket.
12. Install air cleaner outlet tube. Refer to Powertrain Management.
13. Start engine and check for leaks.
Lower
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect battery ground cable (14301).
2. Relieve fuel system pressure and disconnect fuel lines. Refer to Powertrain Management.
3. Release drive belt tensioner (6B209) and remove accessory drive belt (8620).
4. Remove eight retaining nuts on RH and LH ignition wire covers and remove ignition wire covers.
CAUTION: Do not pull on ignition wire as the ignition wire may separate from the connector in the ignition wire boot.
5. Disconnect ignition wires from spark plugs (12405) with a gentle twist/pull motion on the spark plug boot.
6. Disconnect ignition wires from ignition coils (12029).
7. Remove ignition wires.
8. Remove water bypass tube. Refer to Cooling System.
9. Disconnect generator wiring harness from generator (GEN)(10300) at B+ terminal and disconnect stator connector plug.
10. Disconnect wiring harness retaining clip from generator mounting bracket.
11. Remove two bolts and two nuts attaching generator mounting bracket to generator and upper intake manifold (9424). Remove generator mounting
bracket.
12. Remove two bolts retaining generator to cylinder block (6010) and remove generator.
