Steering Gear: Testing and Inspection
Bellows
Entry of water or dust into the bellows will seriously affect the operation and durability of the power rack and pinion steering gear, including the
front wheel spindle tie rods.
CAUTION: Bellows must be handled carefully to avoid damage. Use new steering gear boot clamps when installing bellows.
Inspect bellows for cracks, cuts, deterioration, twisting, or distortion. Check steering gear boot clamps to make sure they are tight. Replace bellows
or steering gear boot clamps as required.
