In-vehicle Repair Removal All Vehicles | -
Remove the drive belt cover. | | -
Slacken and remove the drivebelt (vehicle up to MY 98 shown). | | -
Detach the air intake hose and disconnect the throttle position sensor (TP sensor) multiplug. | | -
Disconnect the idle air control valve (IAC valve) multiplug and the hose. | | -
Detach the accelerator cable. - Pull off the clip.
- Twist the cable out of the bracket.

Remove the throttle housing bracket. | | -
Disconnect the vacuum hose. - Brake booster vacuum hose
- Fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose.

Remove the generator. - Disconnect the connector.
- Disconnect the lead.
- Unscrew the three screws.

Remove the generator and lay it to one side. - Disconnect the plugs.
- Disconnect the positive cable.
- Detach the generator.

Remove the three lower intake manifold bolts from the cylinder block and detach the engine oil dipstick tube. | | -
Remove the intake manifold. | Installation All Vehicles | -
Install the intake manifold and the new two- part gasket. | | -
Install the three lower intake manifold bolts and attach the engine oil dipstick tube. | Vehicles built up to 07/1998 | -
Install the generator. - Three bolts
- Connect the lead.
- Connect the plug.

Connect the vacuum hoses. - Brake booster vacuum hose
- Fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose.

Install the throttle housing bracket. | | -
Attach the throttle cable. - Install the clip.
- Twist the cable into the bracket.

Connect the plug to the IAC valve and connect the crankcase breather hose. | | -
Connect the multiplug to the TP sensor and the air intake hose. | | -
Install and tension the drive belt. | | -
Install the drive belt cover. | |
