Engine Cooling - Cooling Fan Motor Puma 1998 (06/1997-12/2001)
Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Disconnect the battery when working in the vicinity of the engine cooling fan. The fan is operated by the engine management system and an increase in coolant temperature may cause the fan to operate even with the ignition in the OFF position. Failure to follow this instruction can result in personal injury.
    Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  1. Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to Section  100-02 Jacking and Lifting.

  1. Remove the wiring harness cable ties.

  1. Disconnect the engine cooling fan resistor and the fan motor electrical connectors.

  1. Remove the fan shroud assembly.
    1. Release the fan shroud assembly from the support mount.
    1. Remove the fan shroud assembly.

  1. Remove the fan and fan motor from the shroud.

Installation

  1. WARNING:
    WARNING:Disconnect the battery when working in the vicinity of the engine cooling fan. The fan is operated by the engine management system and an increase in coolant temperature may cause the fan to operate even with the ignition in the OFF position. Failure to follow this instruction can result in personal injury.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
