Removal
1. Remove the pinion flange.
2. Use the Converter Seal Remover along with an impact slide hammer to remove the pinion seal.
Installation
1. Lubricate the pinion seal.

Use Motorcraft SAE 8OW90 Thermally Stable 4x4 Axle Lubricant meeting Ford specification WSP-M2C197-A.
2. NOTE: Check the splines on the pinion stem to be sure they are free of burrs. If buffs are evident, remove them with a fine crocus cloth. Work in
a rotating motion to wipe the pinion clean.
Clean the pinion seal bore and use Pinion Seal Replacer to install the pinion seal.
3. Install the pinion flange.
