General Procedures NOTE:When releasing the cooling system pressure, cover the coolant expansion tank cap with a thick cloth. | -
Release the cooling system pressure by slowly turning the coolant expansion tank cap between 2 and 3 turns. | | -
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to: Lifting (100-02, Description and Operation). | | -
Install the radiator drain plug. | CAUTION:The fluid level must remain between the MAX and MIN marks. | -
Switch the interior heater blower off. | | -
Remove the right-hand front headlamp. Refer to: Headlamp Assembly (417-01, Removal and Installation). | | -
Fill the coolant expansion tank coolant level to the neck of the tank. | | -
Connect the coolant degas hose to the radiator. | | -
Install the right-hand front headlamp. | | -
Install the coolant expansion tank cap to the coolant expansion tank. | | -
Raise the engine speed to 2500 revolutions per minute (RPM). | | -
Monitor the coolant level for 3 minutes. If the coolant level falls below the MIN mark stop the engine, refill the cooling system and return to step 14. | | -
Maintain the engine speed at 2500 RPM for 8 minutes until the engine is at normal operating temperature. | | -
Maintain the engine speed at 2500 RPM for 3 minutes. | | -
Increase the engine speed to 4000 RPM for 5 seconds. | | -
Decrease the engine speed to 2500 RPM and maintain for 3 minutes. | | -
Check the cooling system for leaks. | | -
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to: Lifting (100-02, Description and Operation). | | -
Allow the engine to cool. | | -
Fill the coolant expansion tank coolant level to the MAX mark. | | |
