Removal and Installation

Special Tool(s)

Lever, Wheel Knuckle

204-052 (14-026A)

Removal

All vehicles
  1. Remove the wheel and tire.
    For additional information, refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04 Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).
Vehicles with anti-lock brakes

  1. Detach the wheel speed sensor wiring harness from the clips.
All vehicles

  1. Detach the flexible brake hose and the stabilizer bar connecting link from the strut and spring assembly.
    1. Detach the flexible brake hose.
    1. Detach the stabilizer bar connecting link.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Suspend the brake caliper and anchor plate assembly to prevent damage to the flexible brake hose.
    Detach the brake caliper and anchor plate assembly from the wheel knuckle.

  1. CAUTION:
    CAUTION:Protect the ball joint seal using a soft cloth to prevent damage.
    Detach the lower arm from the wheel knuckle.
    • Remove the lower arm ball joint heat shield.

  1. Remove the wheel knuckle to strut and spring assembly pinch bolt.

  1. Using the special tool, detach the wheel knuckle from the strut and spring assembly.
  1. Support the wheel knuckle assembly.

  1. Remove the strut and spring assembly.
    1. Use a suitable Allen key to prevent the strut and spring assembly piston rod from rotating.
    1. Remove the strut and spring assembly top mount retaining nut.

  1. Remove the strut and spring assembly top mount insulator.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
