Removal and Installation

Removal

  1. Standard preparatory measures.
    • Lay protective covers over the fenders.
  1. Drain the air conditioning systemFor additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Do not drain the coolant expansion tank.
    Detach the coolant expansion tank and lay it to one side.
  1. Detach the wiper arm.
  1. Detach the air cowl grille.
    • Disconnect the hose from the windscreen washer jet.

  1. Undo the bulkhead extension.
    • Remove eight bolts.
    • Pull the bulkhead extension forwards.

  1. Separate the refrigerant line and put it up to one side.

  1. Remove the fixed orifice tube.
    • Insert the special tool into the line and hook it into the fixed orifice tube.
    • Turn the nut clockwise and pull it from the fixed orifice tube.

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:May be necessary if the fixed orifice tube is damaged.
    Remove the damaged fixed orifice tube.
    • Use Special Tool 34-005 in conjunction with Special Tool 34-004.

Installation

  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Renew the fixed orifice tube, observing the colour.
    For additional information, refer to Specification - in this section.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:Renew the O-rings and coat with refrigerant oil.
    Fit the fixed orifice tube and connect the line.
  1. Evacuate and fill the air conditioning system. For additional information, refer to Section  412-00 Climate Control System - General Information.
  1. Standard finishing operations.
    • Remove the protective covers.
  1. Check the operation of the heating/air conditioning system.
