Ford Taurus workshop manuals

Ford Taurus at a glance: 16 manuals, covering 1986 to 2009 models, with engines from 2.5 to 3.8 litres.

About the Taurus

The Taurus went on sale for 1986 with an aerodynamic shape that changed how American family cars looked, and it was sold alongside its twin, the Mercury Sable. The high-performance SHO used a Yamaha-built engine. The Taurus was dropped after 2007, then revived for 2008 as a renamed and updated Ford Five Hundred, with the Freestyle crossover becoming the Taurus X.

What these manuals cover

  • 1986–1995: the 2.5-litre four, the 3.0-litre Vulcan V6 and, from 1988, the 3.8-litre V6. The SHO used a 3.0-litre Yamaha DOHC V6, with a 3.2-litre version for automatic SHOs from 1993.
  • 1996–2000: the 3.0 Vulcan and the 3.0 Duratec DOHC V6s, flex-fuel versions from 1995, and the SHO's 3.4-litre V8.
  • 2008–2009: the full-size Taurus and Taurus X with the 3.5-litre Duratec V6, in front or all-wheel drive.

Tip: the Mercury Sable is the Taurus's twin. For 2008–2009 cars, the Five Hundred and Freestyle manuals cover the earlier versions of the same cars.
