Ford Tempo workshop manuals
Ford Tempo at a glance: 11 manuals, covering 1984 to 1993 models, with engines from 2.0 to 3.0 litres.
About the Tempo
The Tempo was Ford's compact car from 1984 to 1994, replacing the rear-wheel-drive Fairmont with a front-wheel-drive design based on the Escort's chassis and powertrain. Its rounded styling previewed the Taurus. It was the first Ford car with an all-wheel-drive option and the first American car offered with a driver's airbag. Mercury sold it as the Topaz, and the Contour replaced it for 1995.
What these manuals cover
- 1984–1989: the 2.3-litre HSC four, with CFI fuel injection on early cars and the higher-output HSO version, and the Mazda 2.0-litre diesel.
- All-wheel drive (offered 1987–1991): the AWD manuals cover it.
- 1993: the 3.0-litre Vulcan V6, which became an option for 1992.
Tip: the Mercury Topaz is the same car, so its manuals of the same years are a good second reference.
