Release Tool, Belt Tensioner

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
   For additional information, refer to: Battery Disconnect and Connect (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).
   

2. Raise and support the vehicle.
   For additional information, refer to: Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).
   

3. Remove the crankshaft pulley splash shield.

4. Using the special tool, detach the accessory drive belt from the accessory drive belt tensioner pulley.

5. Remove the steering column flexible coupling lower pinch bolt.
   • Discard the bolt.

6. Release the circlip.

7. Disconnect the steering column flexible coupling from the steering gear pinion.

8. Disconnect the generator electrical connectors.

9. Remove the generator.

10. Remove the generator support bracket retaining bolts and position the generator support bracket and the accessory drive belt tensioner assembly to one side.

11. Remove the accessory drive belt.

1. Install the accessory drive belt.

2. Install the generator support bracket retaining bolts.

3. Install the generator.
   • Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown.

4. Connect the generator electrical connectors.

5. 

   WARNING:Install a new steering column flexible coupling lower pinch bolt. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
   

   NOTE:Make sure that the wheel hubs are in the straight ahead position.
   

   NOTE:Make sure that the circlip is correctly seated.
   Connect the steering column flexible coupling to the steering gear pinion.

6. 

   WARNING:Install a new steering column flexible coupling lower pinch bolt. Failure to follow this instruction may result in personal injury.
   

   NOTE:Make sure that the wheel hubs are in the straight ahead position.
   Connect the steering column flexible coupling to the steering gear pinion.

7. Install the accessory drive belt.

8. Install the crankshaft pulley splash shield.

9. Lower the vehicle.

10. Connect the battery ground cable.
