General Procedures

General Equipment
M10 x 30 mm bolt
All Vehicles
  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
    For additional information, refer to: Jacking (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation) /
    Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

  1. Remove the gearshift lever cover.

  1. Shift the gearshift and selector levers into NEUTRAL (gearshift cables shown removed for clarity).

  1. Using a suitable M10 x 30 mm bolt, lock the gearshift lever in NEUTRAL.
Vehicles built up to 09/2003
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:The gearshift cables adjust automatically, when the retaining plates are released from the housings.
    Adjust the gearshift cables.
    1. Remove the clips.
    1. Pull the retaining plates out of the housings.

  1. Lock the gearshift cables.
    1. Push the retaining plates fully inwards.
    1. Install the clips.
Vehicles built 09/2003 onwards
  1. NOTE:
    NOTE:Adjust the selector cable only.
    NOTE:
    NOTE:The selector cable adjusts automatically, when the retaining plate is released from the housing.
    Adjust the selector cable.
    1. Remove the clip.
    1. Pull the retaining plate out of the housing.

  1. Lock the selector cable.
    1. Push the retaining plate fully inwards.
    1. Install the clip.
All Vehicles
  1. Remove the bolt.

  1. Install the gearshift lever cover.
  1. Lower the vehicle.
