Removal and Installation
General Equipment
Transmission jacks
Removal
Raise and support the vehicle. For additional information, refer to: (100-02 Jacking and Lifting)

Lifting (Description and Operation).
CAUTION:
Support the engine between the oil pan and the transmission housing to prevent damage to the underside of the oil pan.
Using a
transmission jack
and a wooden block, support the engine.
Detach the steering gear line bracket from the engine crossmember (if equipped).
Remove the engine front mount upper inner retaining bolts on both sides.
Remove the engine front mount lower inner retaining bolts on both sides.
Loosen the engine front mount outer retaining bolts on both sides.
Using a
transmission jack
, support the engine crossmember.
With the aid of another technician, remove the engine crossmember.
Remove the engine crossmember retaining bolts on both sides.
Installation
NOTE:
Make sure that the engine front mounts are fully located before locating the engine crossmember.
Using a
transmission jack
, locate the engine crossmember.
NOTE:
Do not fully tighten the engine front mount upper inner retaining bolts at this stage.
Install the engine front mount upper inner retaining bolts on both sides.
NOTE:
Do not fully tighten the engine front mount lower inner retaining bolts at this stage.
Install the engine front mount lower inner retaining bolts on both sides.
NOTE:
Do not fully tighten the engine crossmember retaining bolts at this stage.
Install the engine crossmember retaining bolts on both sides.
Raise the
transmission jack
until the engine crossmember contacts the floor panel.
Install the engine crossmember.
Tighten the engine crossmember retaining bolts on both sides.
Lower and remove the
transmission jack
from the engine crossmember.
Tighten the engine front mount upper inner retaining bolts on both sides.
Tighten the engine front mount lower inner retaining bolts on both sides.
Tighten the engine front mount outer retaining bolts on both sides.
Attach the steering gear line bracket to the engine crossmember (if equipped).
Lower and remove the
transmission jack
from the engine.
Lower the vehicle.
