Evaporator Case: Service and Repair

A/C Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool Set ...................................................................................................................................... T84L-19623-B
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Drain the engine coolant.
3. Discharge and recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. See: Service and Repair/Discharging and Recovery
4. Position the vehicle securely on a hoist and raise the vehicle.
5. Position a drain pan under the heater water hose connections located on the LH midsection of the underbody behind driver seat.
6. Disconnect the heater water hoses from the auxiliary heater core pipes coming from the front of the vehicle. Drain the auxiliary heater core and
heater water hoses.
7. Disconnect the two A/C spring lock couplings using the A/C Spring Lock Coupling Disconnect Tool Set T84L-19623-B.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Remove all rear passenger seating.
10. Remove the three push pin retainers from the lower edge of the auxiliary heater and air conditioning service cover.
11. Grasp the lower edge of the service cover and lift outward and upward to remove the cover.
12. Disconnect the electrical connector from the heater blower motor switch.
13. Disconnect the electrical connector from the heater blower motor switch resistor.
14. Disconnect the lamp connector from the A/C temperature control bracket.
15. Disconnect the cigar lighter electrical connectors.
16. Disconnect the rear seat remote radio control electrical connector (if equipped).
17. Disconnect the auxiliary heater and A/C assembly main harness electrical connector.
18. Disconnect the vacuum line connector from the heater air outlet door vacuum control motor.
19. Remove the two LH body side trim panels.
20. Plug all A/C refrigerant lines to prevent dirt or moisture entry.
21. Remove the lower A/C recirculation air duct and heater extension air duct retaining screws and remove the air ducts.
22. Remove the auxiliary heater and air conditioning assembly retaining screws and the screws holding the A/C evaporator tube seal retainer to the
floor.
