Axle Bearing: Service and Repair
Rear Axle With 10 1/2" Ring Gear

Bearing Cup Replacement

REAR AXLE WITH 10 1/2" RING GEAR- BEARING CUP REPLACEMENT

Removal Procedure

Tools Required
-

J 8092 Driver Handle

-

J 8608 Pinion Bearing Cup Installer

-

J 24426 Outer Bearing Cup Installer

-

J 24427 Inner Wheel Bearing Cup Installer

1. Raise the vehicle until the wheels are free to rotate. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the disc and the caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement - Front in Brakes and Traction Control.
3. Remove the oil seal (2).
4. Use a drill to remove the inner bearing and the cup (1).
5. Use snap ring pliers to remove the retaining ring (11).

6. Remove the outer bearing ring using J 24426 and J 8092.
