Constant Velocity Joint Boot: Service and Repair
Outer CV Joint Replacement
Disassemble
Tool Required:
J 8059 Snap Ring Pliers (or equivalent)
1. Clamps (174 and 183). Cut to remove.
2. Snap ring (184). Use J 8059 (or equivalent).
3. Joint assembly from the axle shaft (182).
4. Balls (185).

Using a brass drift and hammer, tap on the cage (171) until it tilts enough to remove the first ball.

Remove the other balls in the same manner
5. Cage (171) from the outer race (170).
^
Pivot the cage with inner race (172) 90-degrees to the center line of the outer race.
^
Align the cage windows (B) with the lands (A) of the outer race.
^
Lift Out the cage with the inner race.
