6. Inner race (172). Rotate the inner race up and out of the cage, as shown.
Clean

Parts (except outboard boot [173]) in solvent.
Assemble
Tools Required:
J 8059 Snap Ring Pliers (or equivalent)
J 34773 Clamp Installer

Apply grease to the ball grooves of the inner race (172), and outer race (170).
1. Inner race to the cage (171). Rotate into place, as shown.
2. Cage with inner race to the outer race.

Align the cage windows (B) with the lands (A).

Pivot the cage into position.
^
Make sure the retaining ring side of the inner race faces out.
3. Balls (185). Tap on the cage with a brass drift to tilt it enough to install the balls. Pack the joint with grease.
4. Outboard boot (173) to the axle shaft (182) (if removed).
5. Joint assembly to the axle shaft.
6. Snap ring (184). Use J 8059 (or equivalent).
7. Clamps (183) and 174). Use J 34773.
