Thermostat Housing: Service and Repair
Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Replacement
Removal Procedure
Note: The thermostat is not serviceable separately. The water pump inlet and thermostat must be replaced as an assembly.
1. Remove the bolt from the coolant recovery reservoir and reposition.
2. Remove air cleaner assembly.
3. Remove the radiator outlet hose. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LU3) (See: Radiator Hose/Service and Repair)Radiator Outlet
Hose Replacement (LR4, LM7, LQ4) (See: Radiator Hose/Service and Repair).
4. Remove the water pump inlet bolts.
5. Remove the water pump inlet and thermostat from the water pump.
Installation Procedure
1. Install the thermostat and water pump inlet to the water pump.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (See: Service Precautions/Vehicle Damage Warnings/Fastener Caution).
2. Install the water pump inlet bolts and tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
3. Install the radiator outlet hose. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement (LU3) (See: Radiator Hose/Service and Repair)Radiator Outlet Hose
Replacement (LR4, LM7, LQ4) (See: Radiator Hose/Service and Repair).
4. Install the air cleaner assembly.
5. Install the coolant recovery reservoir and bolt and tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb in).
