Two-Way Valve: Testing and Inspection
1. Remove gas cap.
2. Remove vapor line to liquid vapor/separator pipe and connect vacuum pump to vapor line with vacuum gauge "teed" in line between pump and
two-way valve. Slowly create vacuum while observing gauge. The two-way valve should open at between 0.2 and 0.6 inches Hg. If valve does not
open within specification, replace and recheck. On 1980 Accord and Prelude, except Calif. with automatic transmission, if there is no vacuum,
check by-pass solenoid valve.
3. Move hose connections on vacuum pump and gauge from vacuum connection to pressure connection, then slowly create pressure while observing
gauge. Two-way valve should open at between 1.4 and 2.8 inches Hg. except on 1982 models, where it should open at between 1 and 2.2 inches
Hg. If valve does not open within specification, replace and recheck. On 1980 Accord and Prelude, except Calif. with automatic transmission, if
there is no pressure, check by-pass solenoid valve.
