Air Diverter Solenoid: Testing and Inspection
1.
Disconnect hose at air vent cut-off diaphragm and connect suitable vacuum pump to hose. Perform steps 2 through 6.
2.
Draw vacuum. Vacuum should not be available.
3.
Turn ignition switch on and draw vacuum. Vacuum should remain steady.
4.
If vacuum is not available, check for voltage at vacuum holding solenoid valve A on Civic or vacuum holding solenoid valve on other models.
5.
If voltage is available, replace valve and repeat test.
6.
On all models, start engine and run at idle. Vacuum should be available.
7.
If vacuum is not available, check for blockage in hose and correct as necessary.
8.
If vacuum is still not available, replace vacuum holding solenoid valve and repeat test.
9.
Turn ignition switch off. Vacuum should drop to zero.
10.
Disconnect vacuum pump from vacuum holding valve hose and connect pump to air vent cut-off diaphragm.
11.
Draw a vacuum. Vacuum should remain steady.
12.
If vacuum decreases, replace diaphragm and repeat test.
13.
Remove vacuum pump and reconnect hose between air vent cut-off diaphragm and vacuum holding valve.
