Bowl Vent Solenoid: Testing and Inspection
Air Vent Cut-Off Solenoid Valve

1985-87 Prelude W/Carbureted Engine

1.

Disconnect upper hose from air vent cut-off solenoid valve and install suitable vacuum pump to solenoid valve.

2.

Turn ignition switch on, then draw a vacuum of 4-5 in. Hg. Vacuum should remain steady.

3.

If vacuum is not available, check for voltage at air vent cut-off solenoid valve.

a. If there is no voltage, replace solenoid valve and repeat test.
b. If there is voltage, refer to Troubleshooting.

4.

Start engine. Vacuum should drop to zero after approximately 5 or 6 seconds.

5.

If vacuum does not drop to zero, check for voltage at air vent cut-off solenoid valve.

a. If there is voltage, replace solenoid valve and repeat test.
b. If there is no voltage, refer to Troubleshooting.
