Replace the switch if it fails the above test.

Turn the key to the ON position.

Using a volt meter, check for battery voltage between the BLK/WHT wire at the select switch harness connector and ground.

Check for an open circuit between the ignition switch and the component if the above test fails.

Using a volt meter, check for battery voltage between the RED/BLU wire at the reverse switch harness connector and ground.

Check for an open circuit between the ignition switch and the component if the above test fails.
8.
Turn the key to the OFF position and disconnect the vacuum hoses on the select control valve (solenoid).
9.
Connect a hand vacuum pump to the fitting that the "B" hose was removed from and apply vacuum.

Should be present at the fitting that the "C" hose was disconnected.
Replace the select control valve if it fails the above test.
10.
Apply power to the solenoid and apply vacuum to the fitting once more.

Should be present at the fitting that the "A" hose was disconnected.
Replace the select control valve if it fails the above test.
11.
Disconnect the hoses from the selector actuator.
12.
Using a vacuum pump, apply vacuum to the fittings on the actuator.
Vacuum
Should hold at both fittings.
Replace the select actuator if it fails the above test.
13.
Start the engine and connect a hand vacuum pump to the fitting that the "B" hose was disconnected.

Check the vacuum hoses for splits, kinks or mis-routing if the above test fails.
NOTE: If all of the above tests reveal no faults, the relay (located behind the L.H. side of the dash) will need to be replaced. The relay is solid
state and it can not be tested.
