About the Santa Fe
The Santa Fe, named after the city in New Mexico, was introduced for the 2001 model year as Hyundai's first SUV, and its success with American buyers was a milestone for the company. It began as a compact SUV and moved up to the mid-size class with the second generation of 2005, after the Tucson arrived. Every generation has been offered with front- or all-wheel drive.
What these manuals cover
- 2001–2004 (first generation): the 2.4-litre four, the 2.7-litre V6 and the 3.5-litre V6.
- 2007–2010 (second generation): the 2.7-litre V6, the 3.3-litre V6 and, from 2010, the 2.4-litre four.
Tip: the second-generation Santa Fe was developed alongside the Kia Sorento, which was built in the same Georgia plant from 2009.
