About the Sorento
The Sorento arrived in 2002 as a body-on-frame SUV with a Hyundai-built 3.5-litre V6. The second generation became a unibody crossover, developed alongside the Hyundai Santa Fe, and was the first Kia built in the United States, at West Point, Georgia.
What these manuals cover
- 2004–2009 (first generation): the 3.5-litre V6, then from the 2007 update the 3.3 and 3.8-litre V6s, with two or four-wheel drive.
- 2011 (second generation): the 3.5-litre V6.
Tip: the second-generation Sorento is the Hyundai Santa Fe's sister vehicle, built in the same Georgia plant.
