About Kia
Kia went bankrupt in 1997 during the Asian financial crisis, and in 1998 Hyundai bought a majority stake. Hyundai is still its largest shareholder, and many Kias share their engineering with Hyundais.

- Sportage was developed alongside the Hyundai Tucson, and the second-generation Sorento alongside the Hyundai Santa Fe.
- Sedona (second generation) was sold as the Hyundai Entourage in 2007–09.
- Sephia from 1995 used Mazda's 1.8-litre BP engine, as fitted to the Mazda Familia.
