If the cross-rails are left on the vehicle, move the front cross-rail rearward approximately 19 inches or 50 cm from the seam line on the factory side
rail. Positioning them in this manner will reduce wind noise, particularly in sunroof-equipped vehicles. (See illustrations shown).

NOTE:

Prior to September 17, 2003, Santa Fes equipped with roof mounted cross-rails (crossbars) were delivered to dealers with the crossbars placed
in the cargo area. Since September 17, 2003, port accessory cross-rails have been installed at the ports, to avoid wind noise conditions related
to the crossbar mountings positions. Since September 22, 2003, the ports have been installing a label (marker arrow) on the longitudinal,
factory installed side rails (both sides) to show the proper cross-rail installation location. The cross-rails should remain in this location through
delivery to the customer. If the cross-rails are, for any reason, transferred to another vehicle, the cross-rails should be placed in the correct
position.
