Insert a flat head screwdriver between the transaxle case and the shift lever linkage assembly (A) and push the shift lever linkage (B) toward the
rear of the vehicle. Remove the screw driver. Measure the gap. The maximum sliding distance should be approximately 2-3 mm.

Shift the transmission lever into 3rd gear.

After shifting into 3rd gear, apply an additional 5-8 kgf (11-17 lbs-ft) of force to the shift lever without any side to side movement. After the force
is applied, pull the shift lever back into the neutral position.

Check whether the shift lever moves smoothly between 3rd and neutral. Use the table shown for reference.
