Rocker Arm Assembly: Service and Repair

Fig. 9  Replacement of cylinder head & rocker arm assembly

    Refer to Fig. 9, for rocker arm assembly replacement.

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Remove cylinder head cover.

3.

Remove power steering pump, as described in the ``Front Suspension & Steering'' section.

4.

Remove all drive belts.

5.

Loosen cooling fan mounting bolts and carefully place cooling fan into radiator fan shroud.

6.

Remove water pump pulley.

7.

Remove starter motor.

8.

Remove crankshaft pulley mounting bolt, using flywheel holder tool No. J38674 or equivalent.

9.

Remove crankshaft pulley and the timing belt cover.

10.

Remove timing belt, using a screwdriver or a pair of pliers to remove the tension spring and the belt.

11.

Remove rocker arm assembly from engine.

12.

Reverse procedure to install. Tighten to specifications.
