Fig. 10 Exploded View Of Distributor Assembly

    Refer to Fig. 10, when performing the following procedure.

1.

Apply alignment marks on distributor and cylinder head, then remove distributor assembly from engine.

2.

Remove distributor cap, rotor.

3.

Disconnect the distributor lead wire, then remove the ground terminal and vacuum control mounting screw.

4.

Pry loose the retractor outer cover, then insert a screwdriver into the lower side of the reluctor.

5.

Pull the reluctor free.

6.

Remove the breaker plate, magnet and distributor unit.

7.

Remove breaker plate, then housing gasket.

8.

Break away the staking on the gear set.

9.

File off staked end of the roll pin, then drive out pin through opposite side.

10.

Remove pinion gear and gasket, then distributor shaft.

11.

Reverse procedure to assemble, noting the following:

a. Using a feeler gage, adjust air gap between pick-up coil projections to 0.012--0.020 inch.
