Service Information
Condition:
Some customers may comment on a rattle, clunk, pop, loose lumber-type noise coming from the front and/or rear suspension while driving over rough,
uneven roads.
Possible Cause:
The front and/or rear stabilizer links may develop clearance leading to a noise concern.
Correction:
Replace Appropriate Stabilizer Link(s).
Service Procedure
Note:
Use care when handling coil springs to avoid chipping or scratching the coating. Damage to the coating will result in premature failure of the coil
springs.
1.
Road test the vehicle and verify if the noise is coming from the front or rear, left or right of the vehicle. It is possible in some circumstances that
the noise may be coming from the front and rear suspension.
2.
Once it is determined that the noise is coming from the front or rear, left or right of the vehicle, raise the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to Lifting and
Jacking the Vehicle under General Information in the Service Manual
Caution:
DO NOT DRIVE the vehicle on highways or at a high rate of speed while the stabilizer link(s) are removed/disconnected from the vehicle. ONLY
test drive the vehicle in a parking lot or on a side street. Driving the vehicle with the link(s) removed/disconnected may reduce vehicle stability.
3.
Remove or disconnect the suspect stabilizer link(s) from the appropriate stabilizer shaft and re-road test the vehicle with the links disconnected to
verify the source of the noise.
