Heater Control Valve Actuator: Service and Repair

Temperature Valve Actuator

Removal Procedure

The temperature valve actuator is located on the front of the heater case.

1. Remove the right side instrument panel sound insulator.
2. Remove the instrument panel storage compartment. 
3. Disconnect the passenger side SIR.
4. Remove the left and right speaker grilles.
5. Remove the center instrument panel sound insulator.
6. Remove the left side instrument panel sound insulator.
7. Remove the knee bolster.
8. Remove the BCM. 
9. Disconnect the driver side SIR.

10. Remove the instrument panel cluster.
11. Remove the radio.
12. Remove the HVAC control assembly.
13. Remove the knee deflector.
14. Remove the steering column retaining nuts.
15. Lower the steering column.
16. Remove the instrument panel carrier.
17. Remove the temperature valve actuator retaining screws.
18. Remove the temperature valve actuator.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the temperature valve actuator. Ensure that the retaining clip locks into place.
2. Install the temperature valve actuator retaining screws. 

Tighten
Tighten to 1.9 N.m (17 lb ft).

3. Install the instrument panel carrier.

NOTE:  Refer to Fastener Note in Service Precautions.

4. Reposition the steering column, and install the steering column retaining nuts. 

Tighten
Tighten to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

5. Install the knee deflector.
6. Install the HVAC control assembly.
7. Install the radio.
8. Install the instrument panel cluster.
9. Connect the driver side SIR.

10. Install the BCM.
11. Install the knee bolster. 
12. Install the left side instrument panel sound insulator.
13. Install the center instrument panel sound insulator.
14. Install the right and left speaker grilles.
15

.Connect the passenger side SIR.

16. Install the instrument panel storage compartment.
17. Install the right side instrument panel sound insulator.
18. Perform a heater output temperature check.
