Water Pump: Description and Operation
Water Pump Description
The 2.2L engine water pump is a centrifugal impeller type. The 2.2L water pump has six impellers. The pump body mounts to the front cover. The
pump uses balance type mechanical seals. The impeller spins on enclosed type ball bearings for maximum durability.
The 4.3L engine water pump is a die-cast, centrifugal vane, impeller type. The 4.3L water pump is coupled to the cooling fan. The impeller spins with
a steel shaft rotating on permanently lubricated ball bearings.
