PRECAUTION IN INSTALLING AN ISUZU OIL FILTER
AFFECTED VEHICLES
All Isuzu Models using an Isuzu Brand Oil Filter
All Isuzu Technicians performing an oil, lube and filter service using an original Isuzu Oil Filter should take an extra precaution in removing the
protective clear plastic on the oil filter. If the plastic is poked with a sharp object, there is a potential that a piece of plastic can fall into the filter housing.
When the filter is installed the plastic can be pumped through the oil pump, up through the block and into the left side head. The result can be an
obstruction of one of the oil passages in the head gasket causing an immediate oil starvation at the cam bearings. (Refer to the picture.)
When performing the oil filter installation, turn the filter with the "install-side" down and carefully peal the plastic protective seal off. Do Not Poke with
a sharp object.
