Front Steering Knuckle: Service and Repair

Steering Knuckle Replacement (4WD)

Removal Procedure

Tools Required

-

J 24319-B Tie Rod End Puller

1. Remove the hub and bearing assembly. Refer to Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement (4WD).

2. Remove the cotter pin from the outer tie rod ball stud nut.
3. Remove the outer tie rod ball stud nut.
4. Remove the outer tie rod end from the steering knuckle using J 24319-B.
5. Remove the upper ball joint from the steering knuckle. Refer to Upper Ball Joint Replacement (4WD). See: Ball Joint
6. Remove the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Ball Joint Replacement (4WD). See: Ball Joint

7. Remove the steering knuckle from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the steering knuckle to the upper and lower ball joints ball studs.
