Vacuum Brake Booster: Description and Operation
During normal operation of the tandem diaphragm unit, with the brake pedal released, manifold vacuum is applied to both sides of the diaphragms.
Applying the brakes allows air at atmospheric pressure to enter one side of the diaphragms. This pressure difference provides the power assist. The
booster assembly is located on the left front dash panel and serves as the mounting surface for the master cylinder. The vacuum booster assembly is
serviceable by replacement only.
