Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 34686 Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Installer, or equivalent.
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle.
3. Remove the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.
4. Remove the transmission.
5. Remove the clutch assembly (if equipped).
6. Remove the flywheel bolts.
7. Remove the flywheel.
NOTES:

Check the sealing area for the crankshaft for burrs and carbon build up. Repair and or replace as necessary.

Use caution when removing the crankshaft rear oil seal. Do not damage the sealing area of the crankshaft.
8. Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal.
