Passenger Airbag Assembly
The passenger inflator requires no special precaution after deployment. 95% of the particulate emission are potassium chloride (KCL), which is
commonly sold as an edible salt-substitutes. even if water is applied. Post deployment products are relatively pH neutral. Disposing the inflator by
burying it in a landfill will not products any hazardous products. As with any dusty environment, safety goggles, dust mask and gloves should be worn.
Damaged Airbag/Tensioner Special Procedure
WARNING: If an airbag (or Seat Belt Tensioner) cannot be deployed, it should not be treated as normal scrap; it should still be considered a
potentially explosive device that can cause serious injury.
Special Procedure For Damaged Airbag
1. If installed in a vehicle, follow the removal procedure.
2. In all cases, make a short circuit by twisting together the two airbag inflator wires.
3. Package the airbag in exactly the same packaging that the new replacement part came in.
4. Mark the outside of the box "DAMAGED AIRBAG (or TENSIONER) NOT DEPLOYED" so it does not get confused with your parts stock.
5. Contact your Isuzu District Service Manager for how and where to return it for disposal.
Removal and Installation
REMOVAL
1. Remove the negative battery cable.
2. Disable the SRS.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the off position to unlock the steering wheel and turn the steering wheel 90° from the straight-ahead position in order to
gain access to the access holes behind the steering wheel.
4. Insert a screwdriver into each access hole and push the leaf spring to release the pin that retains the inflator module.
5. Turn the steering wheel 180° to gain access to the remaining access holes.
6. Insert a screwdriver into each access hole and push the leaf spring to release the pin that retains the inflator module.
7. Tilt the top of the inflator module rearward to access the SRS wiring.
8. Disconnect the SRS lead wire from the clip on the inflator module.
9. Detach the SRS lead wire from the clip on the steering wheel.
10. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer and electrical connector.
11. Remove the inflator module from the vehicle.
CAUTION: When you are carrying an undeployed inflator module:

Do not carry the inflator module by the wires or connector on the inflator module.

Make sure the bag opening points away from you. When you are storing an undeployed inflator module, make sure the bag opening points
away from the surface on which the inflator rests. When you are storing a steering column, do not rest the column with the bag opening
facing down and the column vertical. Provide free space for the air bag to expand in case of an accidental deployment. Otherwise, personal
injury may result.
