1996-97 HOMBRE (TH) IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER SEIZED: NEW TUMBLERS For CYLINDER RECODING
AFFECTED VEHICLES
Some 1996-97 Hombre (TH) models.
SERVICE INFORMATION
Condition:
Ignition lock (key) cylinders will not rotate.
Possible Cause:
The tumbler of the ignition lock cylinder is seizing, due to an improper profile.
Correction:
Replace the original tumblers with new tumblers, which incorporates an improved profile. (Figure 1) Follow the procedures outlined below in addition to
the Workshop Manual for recoding lock cylinders using the new tumblers.

Remove the tilt lever, upper and lower column covers.
