4. Connect the lower intermediate shaft to the upper intermediate shaft.

5. Important:  Align the plastic insert flat to the flat on the lower intermediate shaft when reinstalling the upper intermediate shaft pinch bolt.

Install the lower intermediate shaft to the upper intermediate shaft pinch bolt and plastic insert.

Tighten the lower intermediate shaft to the upper intermediate shaft pinch bolt to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).

6. Lower the vehicle.

7. Unlock the steering column by removing the J 42640 from the steering column lower trim cover access hole.
