Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair

1.

Remove the clutch pressure plate assembly.

2.

Remove the six flywheel attaching bolts, then the flywheel.

3.

Using a suitable screwdriver, pry out the rear seal.

4.

Apply clean engine oil to all sides of new seal.

5.

Install the oil seal in the oil seal retainer using tool No. J-29818.

6.

Position flywheel on crankshaft hub. Using new bolts, apply Loctite to threads and install flywheel. On models equipped with 4-110.8 engine,
torque bolts to 36-43 ft. lbs. On models equipped with 4-136.6, torque bolts to 65-72 ft. lbs.

7.

Reverse procedure to install remaining parts.
