Rear Wheel Alignment - Toe Adjustment

All I-Mark (JT) models.

SERVICE INFORMATION

Proper alignment of both the front and rear wheels is necessary to ensure long tire life, comfortable ride, easy steering and reduced road vibration.

This Service Bulletin contains toe adjustment procedures for rear wheel alignment on I-Mark models, using tapered shims. Installing these tapered shims
will change toe 2 mm (per side).

SERVICE PROCEDURE

NOTE Rear wheel alignment must be performed before front wheel alignment.

1.

Ensure all pre-aligmment procedures have been completed as recommended in the appropriate Workshop Manual and the wheel alignment
machine manufacturer's instructions.

2.

Measure rear toe. If toe is incorrect, installing tapered shims (two per wheel) as follows will change toe 2 mm per wheel.

3.

Remove four 10 mm bolts from knuckle.

4.

Install tapered shims (Figure 1). Refer to the "Parts Information" section of this Service Bulletin for shim part number.

The notched side of the shim is the thickest side. Installing a shim with the notched side facing forward increases toe-out 2 mm per side. Installing a shim
with the notched side facing the rear increases toe-in 2 mm.

Tapered shims must be installed on both sides of the rear axle flange, in opposite directions, to allow for proper knuckle bolt reinstallation. See Figure 1.

NOTE These tapered shims are for toe adjustment only. Do not use for camber adjustment.
5.

Reinstall knuckle bolts as follows:

a.

Apply Loctite 242 or equivalent to bolt threads.

b.

Torque to 40 ft.lbs.

6.

Reinstall wheel.
