Oil Pan: Service and Repair
1.
Remove hood, then disconnect battery ground cable.
2.
Drain oil from transaxle case and engine.
3.
Drain cooling system.
4.
If equipped with A/C, discharge refrigerant from system.
5.
Disconnect fuel pump hoses. Cap all openings to prevent entry of dirt and dust.
6.
Remove air cleaner assembly.
7.
Disconnect power steering hoses.
8.
If equipped with A/C, disconnect A/C hose assembly.
9.
Disconnect upper and lower radiator hoses, then the two heater hoses.
10.
If equipped with automatic transmission, disconnect cooler hoses.
11.
Disconnect brake booster hose.
12.
Mark, then disconnect all electrical connectors, cables and vacuum hoses from engine.
13.
Remove driveshafts as follows:
a. Raise and support vehicle.
b. Remove front wheels, then disconnect tie rods from steering knuckles using tool J-21687-02 or equivalent.
c. Disconnect lower arm end ball joints from lower arm.
d. Loosen nuts attaching strut to the body, but do not remove them.
e. Using a suitable screwdriver, pry out driveshafts.

Remove front exhaust pipe assembly from vehicle. On turbocharged models, disconnect front exhaust pipe from turbocharger output flange.
15.
Install suitable engine lifting equipment onto engine.
16.
Raise engine to remove weight from engine mounts, then remove torque rod from body side.
17.
Remove front and rear engine mounting through bolts.
18.
Remove engine along with transaxle assembly.
19.
Remove oil pan attaching bolts, then oil pan.
20.
Reverse procedure to install.
