Loosen control rod locknut. If shift lever swivel is threaded, remove cotter pin and washers and disconnect rod from shift control lever, Fig. 2.

Rotate shift lever to stop in counterclockwise direction as viewed from left side of transmission, then back off lever three stops to Neutral position.

While holding shift lever in position, move shift control lever in driver's compartment to Neutral position.
4.
Push control lever rearward to remove play and tighten control rod locknut. If shift lever swivel is threaded, adjust length of rod so that end of rod
aligns with shift lever hole. Then insert control rod into shift lever and install cotter pin and washers and tighten locknut.
5.
Check for proper operation of transmission and shift lever and readjust as necessary.
