Fuel Rail: Service and Repair

NOTE: Use care in removing injectors to prevent damage to electrical connector pins on injector and to nozzle.  Fuel injector is serviced as a complete

assembly only.  It is an electrical component and should not be immersed in any type of cleaner.

1.

Depressurize fuel system.

2.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

3.

Disconnect air cleaner duct hose from common chamber.

Disconnect accelerator cable from throttle body and common chamber.

5.

Remove throttle valve assembly from common chamber.

6.

Remove support bracket from common chamber and cylinder head.

7.

Release canister holding clip and reposition canister for clearance.  Do not disconnect vacuum lines.

8.

Remove three fuel line clips.

9.

Remove breather hose from rear of valve cover.

10.

Disconnect pressure regulator vacuum line from regulator.

11.

Disconnect fuel return line from fuel rail.

12.

Disconnect injection harness from injectors.

13.

Remove two bolts securing rail.

14.

Disconnect fuel feed pipe from fuel rail and remove rail.

NOTE: When servicing fuel rail, be careful to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering fuel passages.  Cap and plug fittings and holes during

service.  Replace O-ring seals.

15.

Reverse steps to refit.  Be sure to check for leaks.
