Parking Brake Lever: Description and Operation

Parking Brake Lever with Accidental Release Prevention Mechanism.
To prevent accidental release of the parking brake by someone moving around inside the vehicle, a double-locked parking brake lever has been adopted.
To release the lever, you must push the push button and then pull the lever up.

1. The push button is pushed.

Pushing the button when the parking brake is applied does not release the pawl because the friction (pawl load) is higher than the spring load.

2. The lever is pulled up with the push button depressed.

When the lever is pulled up, there is no friction. Therefore, the force acting on the push button is transmitted to the push rod, and the pawl is
released.
